Use of Backwater Journal

Backwater Journal is designed for fishing journaling, catch logging, map-based exploration, species tracking, social/community interaction, and marketplace-related features. You agree to use the app responsibly and lawfully.

Accounts

You are responsible for keeping account information accurate and secure. You are responsible for activity under your account. Backwater Journal may limit, suspend, or remove accounts that violate these Terms or create safety, fraud, abuse, or legal concerns.

User Content

You may create or upload catch logs, journal posts, notes, comments, photos, videos, marketplace listings, profile content, and other content. You retain ownership of content you create, but grant Backwater Journal permission to host, display, process, and distribute that content as needed to operate the app.

You are responsible for content you post. You should not upload content you do not have the right to use.

Fishing Locations and Safety

You should be careful when sharing exact fishing locations. Backwater Journal does not guarantee fishing success, access rights, water conditions, species presence, weather safety, or legal permission to fish in any location.

You are responsible for following local laws, licensing requirements, private property rules, conservation regulations, weather conditions, and personal safety.

Subscriptions and Paid Features

Backwater Journal may offer optional paid subscriptions, premium features, marketplace tools, or other paid services. Paid features may include advanced fishing intelligence, premium catch analytics, shop tools, seller features, marketplace visibility, or other app enhancements.

Subscription availability, pricing, trial periods, renewal terms, and included features may vary by platform, region, promotional offer, or subscription plan. The exact subscription terms will be shown before purchase through the Apple App Store, Google Play, RevenueCat, Stripe, or another applicable payment provider.

By purchasing a subscription, users agree that the subscription may automatically renew unless canceled before the renewal date. Users are responsible for managing or canceling subscriptions through the platform where they purchased it, such as Apple ID account settings, Google Play account settings, or another applicable payment provider.

Backwater Journal does not control Apple App Store or Google Play billing settings, refund decisions, or cancellation systems. Refunds, cancellations, and billing disputes may be handled by the platform or payment provider used for the purchase.

If a subscription expires, is canceled, refunded, reversed, or cannot be verified, Backwater Journal may remove or limit access to the paid features associated with that subscription.

Managing Subscriptions

If subscribed through Apple App Store, users can manage or cancel through Apple ID subscription settings.

If subscribed through Google Play, users can manage or cancel through Google Play subscription settings.

If subscribed through another payment provider, users should follow the cancellation or account management instructions provided by that provider.

Refunds

Refund eligibility may depend on the platform or payment provider used for the purchase. Purchases made through Apple App Store are generally handled by Apple. Purchases made through Google Play are generally handled by Google. Purchases made through Stripe or another provider may depend on the transaction and applicable provider policy.

Backwater Journal may not be able to directly issue refunds for purchases processed by Apple, Google, or another third-party provider.

Marketplace Features

Backwater Journal may provide marketplace features for fishing-related gear, shops, listings, orders, and buyer/seller interactions. Users are responsible for accurate listings, lawful items, safe communication, and completing transactions honestly.

Backwater Journal may limit or remove listings, shops, messages, or accounts that appear fraudulent, unsafe, misleading, prohibited, or abusive. Marketplace availability and payment handling may depend on Stripe or another provider.

Backwater Journal may hold, delay, restrict, or deny marketplace access if necessary for safety, fraud prevention, legal compliance, or operational reasons.

Prohibited Conduct

Users may not:

• Use the app for illegal activity.
• Harass, threaten, impersonate, or abuse others.
• Post misleading, fraudulent, unsafe, or harmful content.
• Upload content they do not have rights to use.
• Attempt to bypass payments, subscriptions, verification, or security systems.
• Interfere with app functionality.
• Use the marketplace for prohibited, illegal, stolen, counterfeit, dangerous, or non-fishing-related items.

No Professional Advice

Backwater Journal may provide fishing-related information, conditions, maps, species details, or community activity, but this information is informational only and may be incomplete or inaccurate. Users remain responsible for decisions, safety, and legal compliance.

Service Changes

Backwater Journal may add, remove, modify, suspend, or discontinue features at any time.

Termination

Users may stop using the service at any time. Backwater Journal may suspend or terminate access if users violate these Terms or create risk.

Disclaimers

The app is provided "as is" and "as available." Backwater Journal does not guarantee uninterrupted service, accurate data, marketplace outcomes, fishing success, or error-free operation.

Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Backwater Journal is not responsible for indirect, incidental, consequential, special, or punitive damages, or losses related to use of the app, user content, marketplace activity, location sharing, fishing activity, or third-party services.

Changes to These Terms

These Terms may be updated over time. When they change, the updated date on this page will also change.
