• Marketplace information such as listings, listing photos, seller activity, and saved or bookmarked listings.
• Location information for catches, Explore, nearby water, and conditions when you use those features.
• Device identifiers and push notification tokens, if used to deliver notifications.
• Product interaction and usage data such as app interactions and feature usage, if collected.
• Crash, diagnostic, and performance data, if collected, to help keep the app reliable.
• Reports, block actions, moderation records, and support requests you submit.

How We Use Information

We may use information to:

• Create and manage accounts.
• Provide catch logging, journaling, map exploration, species tracking, social features, and marketplace tools.
• Display user content according to privacy and sharing choices.
• Improve app performance, safety, reliability, and usability.
• Operate marketplace features and respond to support requests and account issues.
• Prevent abuse, fraud, spam, and unsafe marketplace behavior.

Location Information

Backwater Journal may use location data for fishing-related features, including maps, catch logs, nearby activity, saved places, and exploration tools. You can control location permissions through your device settings.

Sharing exact catch locations can be sensitive. You should be careful when posting location-based content publicly.

Photos, Videos, and Camera Access

Backwater Journal may request camera or photo library access so you can upload catch photos, journal images, listing photos, and profile images. Media is only uploaded when you choose to upload it.

User Content and Public Sharing

Journal posts, catch logs, comments, profile information, marketplace listings, and other content may be visible to other users depending on app settings and feature design. Do not post private information you do not want others to see.

Paid App and Purchases

Backwater Journal is currently offered as a paid iOS app download through the Apple App Store.

This version does not offer subscriptions, in-app purchases, or external checkout flows. If paid features are introduced in the future, this Privacy Policy will be updated to explain how purchase-related information is handled.

Marketplace Information

Backwater Journal may support marketplace features where users can browse, list, buy, or sell fishing-related gear. Backwater Journal does not process marketplace payments in this version. Buyers and sellers coordinate payment, pickup, shipping, and related details directly through messages or outside the app.

Backwater Journal may collect marketplace-related information such as listings, listing photos, seller activity, saved listings, and messages to operate marketplace features, support safety, and prevent abuse.

Third-Party Services

• Supabase for authentication, database, file storage, and backend services.
• Apple App Store for the paid iOS app download, billing, and refunds.
• Mapbox for map display, location-based features, and map-related services.

Data Storage and Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect information. However, no system is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Children's Privacy

Backwater Journal is not intended for children under 13 and does not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

Your Choices

You may be able to:

• Update account information.
• Adjust device permissions.
• Delete certain content where supported.
• Request account or data deletion.
